Thanks made for scholarship support
Posted 5 August 2011
I am delighted by this unexpected but welcome gift that demonstrates the very good relationship the CLA Charitable Trust has developed with Harper Adams.
Harper Adams University College gave thanks to the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) Charitable Trust yesterday, in recognition of their continued support.
The Trust offers the Bruce Wilson-North Scholarship, worth £3,000 per academic year, to those studying Rural Enterprise and Land Management courses at the University College.
Yesterday, a presentation was made to trustees by the Harper Adams Development Trust, which provides students with the best possible learning environment and where required, financial assistance through the scholarship programme.
The token of thanks was a mounted black and white photograph of the Harper Adams main building, a structure which has existed since the University College began in 1901.
Tony Burgess, Chairman of the Development Trust, said: “This photograph is just a small token of appreciation for the support we receive from the CLA Charitable Trust.”
The two students currently receiving the Bruce Wilson-North Scholarship are Eleanor Leivers, who has recently completed her first year, and Louise Roberts, due to graduate next month. The scholarship is offered once every two years.
Peter Geldart, Director of the CLA Charitable Trust, said: “I am delighted by this unexpected but welcome gift that demonstrates the very good relationship the CLA Charitable Trust has developed with Harper Adams through the scholarships.
“Our Trustees are most impressed by the high standard of education and facilities offered by the University College."
The scholarship was established by the CLA Charitable Trust in memory of Bruce Wilson-North, a former student of Harper Adams University College and Director General of the CLA from 2003 to 2006.
